UPDATE: LIVE EVENT CANCELED
As noted earlier today, Friday, July 17, the State of Maryland, including Baltimore City, is experiencing a Code Purple Air Quality Alert. SCDAA has been actively monitoring this situation. Out of an abundance of caution, SCDAA has made the difficult decision to cancel the Warrior Walkathon scheduled for tomorrow, July 18, due to the ongoing dangerous poor air quality forecast for Saturday. Having consulted with the SCDAA Chief Medical Officer and considering today’s Maryland Department of Health guidance, we want to ensure that our warriors, caregivers, staff and supporters stay safe. We encourage everyone to be mindful of the air quality over the weekend until the weather clears. We thank you for your support, and we apologize for any inconvenience. We hope to see you for one of our future events!
We want to thank all of the donors, teams and sponsors who have supported the Walkathon. We regret that we can’t enjoy each other in person and celebrate the winning Walk teams but we will announce the winners and award trophies to each.
When you participate in the walkathon, you are helping to build a future where there is a universal cure for sickle cell. The SCDAA Warrior Walkathon is the perfect opportunity to encourage friends, loved ones and co-workers to make a life-impacting change for all those affected by sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait. Together we can raise the necessary funds which will get us that much closer to finding a universal cure!
Rally your friends, family and co-workers, register to join us on July 18, and help us fundraise and make a difference in the lives of those affected by sickle cell!
